Reparing

Hi Halfbikers, This morning my bike got a big problem (hope not). I shot a short video about this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fwnMKwslOo You can see the chain is moving, but the wheel is not spinning. I hope i need only some adjustment for sturmey archer x-rd4 and this is not a breakdown.

Hi Alexey, Could you see if the yellow lines on the gear hub align when you're on 2nd gear? Here's the manual to help you out > halfbikes.com/halfbike-3-gear-hub-adjustment

I am not sure how accurate it should be, but it's almost aligned

Could you try to follow the rest of the manual, so that they can be aligned and than see if the problem persists?

At this moment both yellow lines are perfectly aligned but the problem is still here. So the sprocket wheel does not move smoothly, it looks like it’s jumping through several teeth or something like this.

It seems that your gear hub is truly defective. I already sent you an email with instructions on how to proceed.

I have the same problem with my new Halfbike 3 and only ride it 4 times, i have tried a lot of time the gear hub adjustement and align the yellow bars but still don't work.. i hope this is not hard to repair, i'm not really manual.

Hi! My halfbike had to be stored, so a month ago I started to drive it and with only a week of use it presented the same failure. Is it a factory defect or why are there so many cases with the same problem? what is the solution? Thanks!

Weird, same issue here. I sent the guys at Kolelinia a message using their contact form today – hopefully they'll be able to solve this problem for us. Now I wish I had a spare (Half)bike to use in the meantime... lol :)

Wait...this is not just happening to me? I was so excited to get back on my bike after a few months off because of Covid and tonight it skipped on a gear shift and off the bike I went! Now it won’t go into gear.

I’ve been riding my half bike everyday for 2.5 months and I just experienced this issue yesterday. Hub seems to be binding and not engaging in any gear. I would like to know how to repair if possible. I have tried adjusting the shifter cable according to instructions but problem still persists. You guys have been very responsive with my recent orders so I hope you can come trough for me on this. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Denitsa, Thanks for the reply. I have had a bike shop attempt to adjust the gear shift cable and it did not have any affect. I have been told the Sturmey-Archer X-RD4 was never imported to US so parts are not available here. Please advise on next steps. I am desperate to get back on my bike.

Hello & good Morning, When I drive my Halfbike uphill - a slight incline will suffice then there are very concerning noises coming from the gear shift / front wheel. What can I do? The Gear/chain will not hold and therefore I have to traction. In other cases the gear doest seem to stick when I change gears. I always pause pedalling when changing gears. Please help me. Ben

Hello dear Halfbike team, I hope you are doing fine. I'm also having an issue with the internal gear of my Halfbike 3, I adjusted the yellow lines a hundred times. The bicycle shop guy adviced my to replace the Flat Rear C50 Hub Sprocket but this didn't solve the problem. It really seems to be inside the hub. Can you please help me to solve the problem as I'm really missing riding my Halfbike? thank you in advance
